For 50 years, Williams Farm has been growing strawberries and cantaloupes on their 135 acres of lush picturesque land. For Steve Williams, it's a way of life.
As a second-generation farmer, he helped the family out by loading trucks before and after school. The farm has since been passed down from his parents to himself, his brother, and sister. Williams Farm was one of the first farms in the area to try overhead irrigation for freeze protection.
While most farms use 48-inch growing beds for their crops, the Williams Farm uses 52-inch beds, giving their crops more room to grow. Steve plants new varieties of produce as they become available―like their recently planted "Radiance" strawberry variety.
They are also one of the few farms to pack strawberries in a few different packages. They pack in 16 oz., 32 oz., and open flats. Williams Farms is proud to harvest their berries at the peak of harvest for optimum flavor, and precool to 34 degrees for optimum shelf life.
