Tyron and Cassie’s microgreen journey began in 2021 with three shipping container freight farms, where they experimented with growing tiny, nutrient-rich greens. In 2024, they took a bold step forward, relocating their operations to a spacious 1,500 square-foot commercial warehouse, allowing for greater innovation and expansion.
Tiny Leaf Urban Microgreen Farm is a bespoke indoor hydroponic farm dedicated to cultivating microgreens and edible flowers for the local South Florida community. These miniature greens are much more than mere garnishes—they are the baby versions of the vegetables and herbs we love, harvested at the “cotyledon” stage of growth. This stage is when the seedling breaks open and reveals its first leaves and crucial for capturing the vibrant flavors and health benefits these little plants offer. Some microgreens are even harvested at their true leaf stage, allowing them to showcase their unique identities. Microgreens are celebrated not only for their culinary versatility but also for their impressive health benefits. Packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals, they can contain up to nine times more nutrients than their mature counterparts.
Initially drawn to microgreens for their culinary potential, Tyron and Cassie quickly recognized the broader impact of urban farming. The awesome team at Tiny Leaf is not just growing microgreens; they are cultivating a movement in the city of Fort Lauderdale. Their commitment to urban farming is a testament to their belief that we can change our food systems for the better, one tiny leaf at a time.
