In 1986, Shane Milberger started farming a couple acres when he was just a sophomore in high school. When asked why he chose to go into farming, he said “my dad pushed me in that direction during high school to keep me out of trouble and then I ended up really enjoying it”.

Today, he farms 300 acres of over 50 different vegetables!

Starting 8 years ago, Milberger Farms also became organically certified! They also sell some conventional crops as well.

Their season begins around May with beautiful asparagus, continues through the summer with a large variety of fruits and vegetables, and ends with a pumpkin harvest in October.

Along with tending to 300 acres of farm land, Shane also runs what they still call a “retail stand”. After visiting this establishment, we discovered it’s more of a local grown grocery store with a restaurant inside called “Peppe’s”. The salad bar is amazing if you are ever in the area!
