Gerald McKenzie grew up on a farm in South Carolina and has always had a passion to become a farmer. He tried to quit school in fourth grade to follow his dreams, but his parents made him stay in school. He went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture and then began working for Monsanto in research and development.
After leaving Monsanto, Gerald went into farming for himself. He says, “I still have so much drive and passion for it. It brings much excitement to be a part of the nation’s food supply.” Gerald currently grows beans, collards, turnip greens, mustard greens, okra, corn, peanuts and sweet potatoes.
