Cassandra Bare is a 5th generation farmer who grew up working in her father’s plant nursery, Benfield Nursery. From a young age, she learned to propagate, plant, transplant, harvest and care for a variety of plants from ornamentals to Christmas trees.
In 2007, Cassandra graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Business. She returned to the farm to start growing a crop that yields faster than ornamentals –-- produce.
Cassandra began growing pumpkins and a corn maze for a project at App State. She continued to expand the crops she was growing and now grows on 400 acres. Her dad Jeff still helps on the farm, along with her husband who repairs the machinery.
