Every day, people are hungry both physically and spiritually in the Nashville area. Many reside in areas designated by the USDA as food insecure areas, meaning they have severely limited access to fresh, nutritious vegetables and fruit. Still others are looking for a fresh start.
Cul2vate is small nonprofit farm that serves Middle TN. Fresh, local, nutritious produce grown on the farm is harvested and then distributed directly to communities who are food insecure. Additionally, Cul2vate employs and trains individuals in need of a fresh start. By fostering trust and acceptance, all of those who come to the Cul2vate farm become more open to healing, growth, and change. For each pound of food purchased by FreshPoint, a pound of food is donated to a hungry family. And all proceeds from produce sales go right back into the organization for training new and emerging farmers.
Since their humble beginning in 2015, over 150,000 pounds of food have been donated to those in need. That translates to over 125,000 meals! So far, 35 individuals have come to work on the farm as Cul2vators, and while not all have completed the entire program, each has left an indelible imprint on the farm and on the hearts of the Cul2vate community. Cul2vators have gone on to full-time work in agriculture, the Peace Corps, and even to begin their own ministries. We also currently employ two Cul2vate graduates as farm managers.
