BJ’s Greenhouses was established in Athens, Georgia in 2000. The greenhouse facility is the original and longest-running farm within the Revol Greens network—and despite its earlier technologies, it is the most productive farm in the network when considering volume per acre.
They continue to maintain a legacy as a pioneer in hydroponic greenhouse farming. The farm started out of a partnership with a professor at the University of Georgia and was originally a site for research. That research grew into a fully-fledged greenhouse operation.
The facility is nearly 4 acres of greenhouse space dedicated to year-round production. In 2021, they joined Revol Greens, marking a new chapter while preserving local roots and a two-decade commitment to excellence.
Today, BJ’s specializes in hydroponic cultivation of premium leafy greens and herbs, including spring mix, bibb (butterhead) lettuce, basil, and specialty lettuces. Sunlight remains the primary growing resource, complemented by a pond-based hydroponic system that circulates water and nutrients for consistency and sustainability.
Beyond production, BJ’s balances technology with the natural rhythm of farming. They combine innovation with deep respect for tradition, using experience and precision to grow quality products.
Even with advanced environmental controls, they face the same challenges as any farmer—changes in sunlight and weather—and continue to focus on adapting and maintaining exceptional quality.
