Smoky Mountain Family Farms is rooted in a proud legacy of tomato farming in East Tennessee. Since the 1950s, this region has grown into a nationally recognized hub for tomato cultivation. Today, that tradition is carried forward by the Pappas, Esformes, and Heller families—each bringing generations of experience and a shared commitment to excellence.

The Pappas family began their journey in the 1940’s with the founding of Pete Pappas and Sons Inc. In 2020, they joined forces with Sunripe Certified Brands, established in 1920 by the Esformes and Heller families. Together, they formed Smoky Mountain Family Farms, combining 3 families and 11 generations of agricultural expertise to grow premium Tennessee tomatoes.
