Honeybear Brands began in the 1970s in Elgin, Minnesota when Robert “Doc” Wescott planted a small orchard and farmed it with his 13 children.
Today they’re still headquartered on that same plot of land, but with Doc’s son, Fred, his grandson Thomas and son-in law Don running the daily operations. Honeybear Brands has grown into one of the leading developers, growers, and suppliers of premium apple varieties across North America. They also grow Anjou pears, Bartlett pears, and cherries. Their growing operations span five states and include Canada as well as southern hemisphere growing in Chile, as they work year-round to bring new varieties and customer favorites to their retail partners across North America.
The Pazazz variety was born out of the company’s varietal development program and resulted in a super juicy, bold, bright apple that has unique storage ability and packs a powerful crunch and perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors months after the traditional apple season.
A leader in sustainability efforts, Honeybear implemented True Earth growing practices and protocols long before it became the buzz. And speaking of the buzz…one of Honeybear’s sustainability goals is to develop pollinator habitat alongside the orchards where our Apples are grown.
