The Rose family has been farming in South Glastonbury, CT since 1908. After emigrating from Piacenza, Italy, Pietro Scaglia started Rose's Berry Farm with just 10 acres of blueberries. Since then, Rose's has flourished to become the largest blueberry grower in southern New England and was one of the first "pick-your-own" farms starting in the late 1960's.
Today, the farm grows 130 acres of spectacular blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, apples, pears, pumpkins, and more. The farm uses integrated pest management techniques to minimize the use of chemical controls. They have been known to utilize a trained falcon to scare off berry-hungry birds.
Rose's Berry Farm is also known for its "Breakfast with a View" that happens on Sunday mornings from Father's Day in June through October. At breakfast, Rose's serves their customers fresh farm toppings on pancakes, waffles, or French toast as you overlook the farm from their 100-foot long elevated deck.
